NX Technologies receives €1.9 million from PERTE to expand its product range for light electric vehicles

September 22, 2026

The funding, awarded through the PERTE for Electric and Connected Vehicles, will go towards the research and development of a future range of traction inverters for light electric vehicles.

The inverter is the “brain” of an electric vehicle, the component that connects the battery to the motor and controls power, range and safety.

San Sebastián, 22 September 2026 – NX Technologies, a company specialising in power electronics for electric mobility, has been awarded €1.9 million from the PERTE for Electric and Connected Vehicles (PERTE VEC) for the research and development of a future range of traction inverters for light electric vehicles. The project will run from 2026 to 2029 and falls under call 5 of the PERTE VEC, part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, managed by the Spanish state industrial development agency SEPIDES and funded by the European Union-NextGenerationEU.

NX takes on this project in a period of strong growth. Since it was founded, the company has raised more than €10M in public and private funding, including a €3.2M private equity round, and has invested €5.2M in R&D. Its team of around 40 people has grown by 50% over the past year, and it designs and manufactures its products entirely in Europe from its headquarters in Donostia-San Sebastián.

The PERTE funding allows NX to accelerate the development of technology that will open up new markets within light electric mobility, a fast-growing segment that still has few specialised suppliers. The company already works with a range of manufacturers and has a presence in countries including the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, India and the United States, and this award further strengthens its international reach.

NX specialises in the traction inverter, the component that acts as the “brain” of an electric vehicle. What sets its inverters apart is how compact and lightweight they are across every power range, built to automotive grade with high safety and performance standards.

NX also develops inverters and battery management systems (BMS) for all types of electric vehicles, from the lightest, such as motorcycles and quadricycles, through to the heaviest, such as trucks, buses and tractors. This PERTE funding will now finance the research and development of its future range for light electric vehicles, where a small, lightweight inverter makes all the difference in achieving more efficient and competitive products.

As Mikel Peral, CEO of NX Technologies, explains: “With this new product range, we aim to make cutting-edge technology accessible for a wide range of light vehicles, for which there are currently few European solutions covering applications on road, at sea and in the air that meet future market requirements. The PERTE programme gives us the impetus to accelerate development and compete with the best, thereby consolidating NX’s position as a European market leader in traction inverters for all types of electric vehicles.”

With this award, NX Technologies strengthens its product roadmap and moves forward with its goal of accelerating the electrification of mobility.
