MEP Technologies has selected the NX BMS as the battery management system for its electric battery pack platforms. Based in Dundee, Scotland, MEP develops high-performance battery packs across automotive, e-mobility, defence, and energy storage sectors, applications where functional safety requirements are stringent and non-negotiable.

As MEP’s product requirements evolved, the company identified a need for a BMS designed and validated to automotive-grade standards. Following a structured evaluation and testing process against its target application requirements, MEP selected the NX BMS for the functional safety architecture and system adaptability its platforms require.

The NX BMS is a flexible, ready-to-use system with automotive-grade components and ISO 26262 ASIL-D certified hardware. It connects a Battery Master Controller (BMC) with up to 20 Cell Monitoring Devices (CMDs) over a fault-tolerant communication ring, with each CMD monitoring 9 to 18 cells in series. This modular, cell chemistry-agnostic architecture reduces the number of boards required and lowers overall system cost. The system supports battery voltages up to 1000V and includes an integrated insulation resistance monitor and pyro-fuse driver.

“Automotive-grade standards were non-negotiable for us. NX understood our requirements from day one and delivered a BMS with the functional safety architecture our applications demand.” Stuart Morrison, Managing Director, MEP Technologies

” MEP Technologies are exactly the kind of partner our BMS was built for. They have a lot of experience in developing batteries and appreciate that our BMS has a focus on safety and performance.” Mikel Peral, CEO, NX Technologies

This collaboration reflects NX’s commitment to making automotive-grade battery management accessible to companies operating across demanding sectors, regardless of scale.
